Package Upgrades
Whether you want more comfort, more speed or the opportunity to try some new toys, we have upgrade options for you. Our packages provide quality gear that gets you in the woods and ready to go… but a little luxury never hurts.
SPOT MESSENGER – Add peace of mind to your package. The SPOT Messenger gives you instant access to 9-1-1 emergency help in the field, a check-in feature to send “OK” messages to loved ones at home, Google Maps progress tracking at 10-minute intervals for the folks at home and an additional $100,000 of search and rescue benefits, should the need arise.
SUPERLIGHT CANOE – From the Raven Works Genesis to our newer We-no-nah upgrades (Minnesota II, Champlain, Escape), you will notice the difference both on the water and on the portage trail. Our upgrade canoes max out at 45 lbs, a big weight drop from our standard canoes. They are also sleeker and faster on the water, a great benefit for group leaders that will likely put in more paddle strokes moving among and between the other canoes in their group to maximize interaction. Our variety of upgrade models allows you to gain the benefits of an upgrade while securing one that will match your paddling skill.
BENTSHAFT PADDLE – Experienced paddlers know you get more out of every stroke with a bentshaft paddle. We stock lightweight FoxWorx wood paddles. Not only are they more efficient on the water, but they are lighter and easier on your hands. They are so much nicer than the standard paddles, many renters opt to buy them after using them for a week!
PAD/CHAIR – One of our favorite upgrades for evening comfort, you will not find a Pilgrimage staffer on the trail without their Therm-A-Rest self-inflating sleeping pad. This is an upgrade from the foam ground pads offered with our outfitting packages. The basic purpose of a ground pad is to insulate the camper from cold and/or wet that may seep through the bottom of the tent at night. Foam pads provide that basic function. Therm-A-Rest self-inflating pads not only insulate, they put a comfortable layer of air between your sleeping bag and the ground… luxury by wilderness standards. When deflated and strategically stuffed in your backpack, they provide extra back padding throughout the day. On top of that, side clips allow them to be used as a chair with backrest for sitting around the campsite at night.
2 PER CANOE – The Standard Canoe Package provides enough canoes for your group to put three participants in each canoe. This option provides enough extra canoes for your group to paddle with only two participants for each canoe. It can be a bit more comfortable on the water (nobody has to sit in the middle), but remember it’s more to carry when it comes time to portage.
2 PER TENT - The Standard Canoe Package provides enough tents to sleep three participants in each. Whether you have full grown adults or you just want some elbw room at night, this upgrade delivers. Our Eureka Pinnacle Pass 3XTA tents are roomy, but they feel downright regal with only two occupants.
INDIVIDUAL PACKS – The Standard Canoe Package provides 2 packs for ever 3 participants. Sometimes it’s just nice to have your own pack. It is also a nice initiative to make everyone carry what they bring without splitting it out to others. Regardless your motive, one pack per person is an upgrade option.
GEAR SPOTTING SERVICE – We have the capacity (most weeks) to serve groups that would like to begin and/or end their trip at an alternate access point. For front-end spotting, Pilgrimage will provide any non-canoe gear (packs, tents, etc…) at base camp, then will transport canoes to the selected access point. You will transport your people and your non-canoe gear in your vehicles to the access point. For back-end spots, you will transport your people and non-canoe gear back to base camp for check-in. Pilgrimage will retrieve canoes at a later time. If Pilgrimage staff needs to move your vehicles from one location to another, there is an additional charge for each vehicle moved.
