SPOT... Upgrade Your Peace of Mind

SPOT LogoWith the SPOT Satellite Messenger, you and your loved ones have peace of mind knowing help is always within reach. SPOT is the only device of its kind, using the GPS satellite network to acquire its coordinates, and then sending its location – with a link to Google Maps™ – and a pre-programmed message via a commercial satellite network. And unlike Personal Locator Beacons, SPOT works around the world – even where cell phones don't – because it uses 100% satellite technology. SPOT does more than just call for help. Tracking your progress, checking in with loved ones, and non-emergency assistance are also available, all at the push of a button.

SPOT and Pilgrimage

For $75 per unit for the week, groups can add peace of mind on the trail and back home. On top of that, the progress tracking feature gives those at home the unique opportunity to track the actual trip progress in almost real time online. The following features will be enabled for each Pilgrimage SPOT unit:

  • SPOT MessengerAlert 9-1-1: Dispatch emergency responders to your exact location. Unlimited usage included. In the event of a life- or health-threatening emergency, professional responders can be mobilized immediately to the exact location of your group.

  • Check In: Let contacts know where you are and that you’re okay. Unlimited usage included. When you press the OK button, SPOT acquires your exact location from the GPS network and routes it through the SPOT satellite network. Pilgrimage receives an SMS text message on our cell phone with your message and coordinates and an email with a pre-coded "OK" message and a link to Google Mapsâ„¢ showing your exact location. This location is also displayed on the progress tracking web page (see below).

  • Ask For Help: Request help from friends and family at your exact location. Unlimited usage included. This feature is dialed in to Pilgrimage contacts so we can mobilize resources for groups in the field when the feature is employed.

  • Track Progress: Send and save your location and allow contacts to track your progress using Google Mapsâ„¢. We set up a unique page on the Pilgrimage website for each SPOT unit with links to the Google Mapsâ„¢ tracking specifically for the unit and label it with your group name. This is a unique way for friends and family back home to stay connected with those on the trail and pray specifically for them as they move through the wilderness during the week. It's also a lot of fun for those at home.
  • GEOS Search and Rescue Benefit: Provides up to $100,000 USD of additional search and rescue resources, including helicopter extraction around the world and reimbursement benefits – underwritten by Lloyd’s of London – for any emergency service expenses incurred.

Your SPOT Options With Pilgrimage

ASPOT Tracking limited number of SPOT units will be available for rent ($75 per unit per week) through Pilgrimage for the outfitting season. They will be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis like any other upgrade. Groups will need to submit trip deposits AND submit a completed Trip Tik form to secure their SPOT Messenger upgrade.

Pilgrimage is also a retail dealer of SPOT Messenger units through one of our outdoor distributors. If you would like to purchase a unit, we can get a reasonable deal on the unit for you. The retail price of a SPOT unit is $169. In addition to the unit, you will pay a $99 per year subscription cost for the basic functions (Alert 9-1-1, Check In, Ask For Help). An additional $49.99 per year will give you the Track Progress function and an additional $7.95 per year will give you the GEOS Search and Rescue Benefit.
